Knowledge Management

Novosoft Knowledge Management team believes that the ontological approach has a huge potential in AI research areas.
Ontologies are the key technology used to describe the semantics in knowledge management activities. Defined as "explicit specification of a conceptualization", they provide a shared and common understanding of a domain that can be communicated across people and application systems, and thus facilitate knowledge sharing and reuse.
One of the most famous applications of ontologies is a World Wide Web Consortium initiative - Semantic Web:
“The Semantic Web is a vision: the idea of having data on the Web defined and linked in such a way that it can be used by machines not just for display purposes, but for automation, integration and reuse of data across various applications.”

The activities of Novosoft R&D in the knowledge management are centered on these areas:
- Information Retrieval and Search Technologies
- Information Modeling
- Automatic and semiautomatic ontology creation
- Text structuring and categorization
- Automatic object domain definition
- Using ontologies in Machine Translation systems
Knowledge management team works closely with other Novosoft research teams active in this area, including NLP research group and Data Mining and Knowledge Discovery group.
Some our projects are being developed in collaboration with Sobolev Institute of Mathematics of SB RAS and Novosibirsk State University.
